Make a scanned PDF searchable with OCR, free
A scanned PDF is only pictures of pages: you can't search it, copy from it or edit it. OCR reads the text on each page and adds an invisible text layer, while the page images stay exactly as they were.
How it works
- Step 1
Choose your files on this page, or start a blank document in an editor. No signup is needed for up to five jobs every 24 hours.
- Step 2
Edit your document, or choose the tool settings and run it. Batch tools accept up to 10 files in selection order, 50 MB each and 100 MB total.
- Step 3
Download the result free, or register to save it to your account. Temporary files expire after one hour or are deleted after download.
Why use it
- Recognises English, French and Arabic, including mixed-language pages.
- Only pages without text are processed; pages that already have text are left as they are.
